Healthy Hair IS Priceless

A little over a month ago, EBONY magazine featured an article that read “Does Going Natural Mean Going Broke?”  In the article, it talked about the decision some women may make between paying their bills and being able to afford caring from their natural tresses.

It went on to discuss making the transition from wearing relaxed hair to sporting one’s natural coils, product selection and their ingredients as well as cost and the amount of money spent on natural hair care…  (View Article: http://www.ebony.com/style/why-going-natural-means-going-broke-755)

"BLACK HAIR" IS INCOMPARABLE

Back to Natural…  Going back to your natural texture doesn’t mean you have to go broke.  And it shouldn’t be about expense nor making a decision between paying your bills or not. Resuming your natural state of being is a choice many "Black Women of Afrikan Heritage" are making because they have chosen to do so for whatever their reasoning is. (The "K" in Afrikan, means "Knowledge" of Our Afrikaness)

I’d venture to say that black women wearing their natural hair is about celebrating the essence of who they are as black women and living a healthier life style from head to toe; to the best of their ability and within their available resources...

"Embracing OUR Natural Hair IS Beautiful and Healthy.”  It also serves as an inner psychological transformation for those who choose (or have chosen) to make the transition.  What I mean by this is, black women who are natural “must have an inner knowing” of who they are because it takes an elevated sense of “Self-Confidence/Self-Esteem” to wear your hair natural (considering the lingering stigma STILL associated with black women wearing their natural hair).  And for the Sisters, who don’t possess that inner knowing just yet, it will challenge them to look within themselves and examine what their concept of beauty “really is.”

Priceless…  One can’t begin to place a dollar figure on having healthy hair.  It’s not just about the expense or what’s in the product(s) i.e. ingredients; it’s about what the individual puts into their bodies as well.  Having healthy hair can’t just be a topical solution, one must also be conscious of what they put inside of their bodies too, i.e. foods (Fruits and Vegetables) and liquids (WATER)...

Eating foods that promote healthy hair growth as well as drinking “plenty” of water to hydrate from within coupled with educating yourself on the best products that will aid in the overall health of your hair is THE BEST SOLUTION.

BUT the BOLDNESS and CONFIDENCE to wear your

Walking by Faith

We may make plans to accomplish, see and or do certain things, the truth is, in making preparation (setting goals/creating plans of actions), we still won’t know all the details of the HOW.  It’s said in scripture that “A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9, NKJV)

This passage, if looked into a little deeper, implies that we must have a certain level of faith, in that what we’ve planned in our hearts to do, we must trust the Lord’s direction in “Getting it Done.”  Here lies the key…

Given that the things you have purposed in your heart to do, align with God’s ultimate plan and design for your life, YOU CAN BE ASSURED that your path will be directed accordingly so that you fulfill your destiny AND in the most efficient way possible.

Very often, we are influenced by things that are seen in the visible realm.  And we also allow this visible knowing to dictate our choices and decisions more times than not.  But those things that are not seen by the naked eye constantly pose a challenge for many of us.

Why is this so?  Is it because it’s not tangible?  Or, do we think we know how it should go? Or better yet, do we not believe that “all things work together for the good?” My guess is, maybe it’s a combination of all the above…

We can’t always “put our finger on it” and yes, even those things that don’t appear to make sense or have caused us some heart ache and pain, regardless of if it was brought upon us by our own actions or that of others.  So, what does this have to do with “Walking by Faith?”

Simply believing in the things you plan to “accomplish, see and or do” won’t cut it, you have to show your faith by your works and work with what’s in your hands…  Keep in mind, this life that we live “is” a journey, and an adventure of sorts, therefore we must continuously “Walk by Faith.”

There's Freedom in Letting Go!!!!

I have to say, when the "spirit" speaks to you and tells you to MOVE (Do Something), you have to be mindful of the instruction and act on what is being given to you...  I must confess, I didn't release this post last night (SMH).  BUT, OUR God is so merciful that He sends us little "Tweets" as a friendly reminder...

This morning, Mr. Steve Harvey tweeted, “Reconcile with Your Past & Let it go!”  Powerful… Simply Powerful!!!  This isn’t something that’s new, we ALL know the deal.  In order to heal, FIRST, we must forgive ourselves and then the offender(s).

Forgiveness is for YOU!  You must forgive so that You Can LIVE....  Live in the PRESENT!  When you're not at that place, it truly affects everything in your life.  We must not only forgive, but also "Reconcile with our Past" as Mr. Harvey mentioned.

You can't move forward looking in the rear view mirror, nor can you move forward if you are constantly holding on to the things of your past.  At some point, you have to release it, let go and "GIVE IT TO GOD!"

I've included below, a poem that was written by me...  When you have "Reconciled with Your Past, Forgiven Yourself, and Have Asked Others (whom you've offended) to forgive you, knowing that you've done what's right, then there's nothing else for you to do but "LET IT GO!"

Surrender

GIVE IT TO GOD....  This poem was birthed from being in a place of having forgiven myself, reconciled with my past, as well as long forgiven others and their offenses, BUT because the other individual(s) hadn't done the same for themselves, it continued to create discord within the relationship or our communication....

Through my experience, I Sincerely Pray that this poem serves as a Blessing and a Wake-Up Call, because "There's Freedom in Letting Go!"
